The Great Alaskan Earthquake of 1964
The Great Alaskan Earthquake (Good Friday Earthquake) of March 27th, 1964 was the most powerful megathrust earthquake ever recorded in North America, and the second most powerful ever recorded worldwide. With a magnitude of 9.2, the tremor was felt over an area of 1.3 million square kilometers, and the subsequent tsunami generated waves of up to 100 feet. The death count of 131 was limited only by the relative remoteness of the location. Compare the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake (slightly less powerful at 9.1 magnitude) which killed 230,000 people in 14 countries.

As is typical of megathrust earthquakes, the majority of deaths from the 1964 event were caused by the ensuing tsunami. The catastrophe was of biblical proportions, and the references to the biblical flood are striking. In the Bible, there are three triangular numbers associated with water:
In the Book of Genesis, we learn (Gen 7:11) that the windows of heaven were opened on the seventeenth day of the second month, and (Gen 8:4) the ark rested on the mountains of Ararat on the seventeenth day of the seventh month. The references to the seventeenth allude to the triangular number closely approximating the duration of the flood:
"And the waters returned from off the earth continually and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated" Gen 8:3
Consider the ark dimensions as given to Noah:
"And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits." Gen 6:15
On the Hebrew calendar, the year of the flood was 1656 (see timeline). This gematria value is found in the only verse in the Bible which mentions Lucifer:
"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning…." Isa 14:12

The KJV translation of the Hebrew הילל בן שחר (helel ben shahar) as "Lucifer" comes from the latin word meaning "shining one, son of the morning star" which is associated with the planet Venus, one of the brightest celestial bodies at night. Venus can be seen shining in the early morning when no other stars can, but vanishes when the sun, the real light, rises.
The 1964 Alaskan Earthquake occurred at precisely 5:36 pm local time on the anniversary of Jesus' crucifixion, shortly before sunset which marked the beginning of Passover.

Two clocks from Seward, Alaska, which were stopped by the 1964 tsunami at the precise time of 5:36 pm, or 1056 minutes into the day. The clock on the right is on display at the Seward Library Museum.
The connection between the 1964 Alaskan Earthquake and the biblical flood continues with the chronology of Noah:
"And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth." Gen 7:6
By drilling 50 feet into the earth and taking core samples, geologist George Plafker discovered evidence of nine megathrust earthquakes in south central Alaska over the past 5,500 years. The average time span between these quakes is about 600 years.
There is also a connection to another triangle number - 5778, ominous for being a rapidly approaching year on the Hebrew calendar. From the 27th March, 1964 until the first day of Sukkot, 5778 there are 19550 days:
"And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls." Acts 27:37
"And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth." Gen 7:6
- 1656 - 1056 = 600

Another interesting triangular number with biblical relevance is 210. This was the number of years of the Egyptian exile.
- T(20) = 210
- on the first day of Sukkot, 5778, the sun will be π /210 x 10¹⁰ kilometers from Jerusalem
- 5778° K = the surface temperature of the sun
During Sukkot, readings in the synagogue are from the Book of Ecclesiates (Kohelet), whose opening word דברי ("The words") and key theme הבל הבלים הכל הבל ("vanity of vanities; all is vanity") both have a gematria value of 216.
